Is it still July?

Is it still July?

Greetings to all my guys, gals, and non-binary pals!

It is hot and therefore I am sweaty. I do not deal with the heat well, I much prefer the cold.

I was in Illinois a couple weeks ago for a signing (saw some of you there!) and thought I was going to melt to death. I am fully acclimated to mountain weather. Humidity and I are old enemies and she tried to take me out when I was in Peoria. Just walking from the car to the hotel had my t-shirt soaked through.

Side note: Victora Beckham’s waterproof eyeliner is not waterproof in those conditions.

I was sweating so much I thought my body was crying. I ate ice for dinner and slept on the AC vent every night.

My hair started out dry and after an hour I could wring it out! That’s not normal.
All I could think was that people—actual human beings—chose to live there.
I don’t understand.

Snow, cold, ice, oxygen as thin as my excuses for being late—that’s where I thrive.

But I’m home now and back to writing. I am 132k words into this book and only about 80% finished. It’s my longest book yet and I love it. This is the most creative flow of my life.

I’d wanted to write a DBS next-gen story for a while but I had no idea how much I’d love it. How could I? I hadn’t met them yet? I am addicted to this story though. Obsessed isn’t a strong enough word.

I can’t wait for you to read it. Everyday I’m so close to just posting what I have so you can see it.

I have no idea when it will be finished. Because even after I’m done with this draft, there’s revisions and edits and more edits and several rounds of proofreading in which many typos will survive. But I guess then you’ll know I actually wrote it 😭

I want you to love it as much as I do. When it’s time to finally release, I won’t be playing small. I will be loud and obnoxious. Just block me now, honestly.

There’s lore.

And music.

I’m writing songs. Not just songs. Albums. I have written most of three connected albums for the band and I am slowly building a recording studio in my office while learning Logic Pro and how to play the guitar, and piano and bass. Drums come later but I have a plan for that.

It’s all things I’ve always wanted to do but never could because…whatever.
But getting my ADHD treated has changed everything. That sounds like such a small thing but when you consider how many years I’ve spent trying to learn how to do these things anyway, it's like finding the last piece of the puzzle. Now my intentions finally match my actions.

So yeah, there’s story, there’s music, there is story in the music.
I’m not so deluded that I think the music I’m making is good by any means. But it’s mine and that’s exciting. And I can’t wait to share with you all.

I just want to give you everything.
